Data Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities

• Participate in technical planning & requirements gathering phases including design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting big data-oriented software applications. Responsible for the ingestion, maintenance, improvement, cleaning, and manipulation of data in the business's operational and analytics databases and troubleshoots any existent issues.
• Design, build, deployment, of ETL/ELT data pipelines within big data ecosystems ( Impala, Hue, Spark, Talend and Cloudera)
• Manage, monitor and fine tune Hadoop cluster architecture (HDFS) jobs for performance, security and resource management.
• Create detailed designs and POCs to enable new workloads and technical capabilities on the Platform. Work with the platform and infrastructure engineers to implement these capabilities in production
• Implements, troubleshoots, and optimizes distributed solutions based on modern big data technologies like Hive, Hadoop, Spark, Elastic Search, Storm, Kafka, etc. in both an on premise and cloud deployment model to solve large scale processing problems.
• Define and build large-scale near real-time streaming data processing pipelines that will enable faster, better, data-informed decision making within the business.
• Work inside the team of industry experts on the cutting-edge Big Data or Data Lake technologies to develop solutions for deployment at massive scale.
• Keep up with industry trends and best practices, advising senior management on new and improved data engineering strategies that will drive departmental performance leading to improvement in overall improvement in data governance across the business, promoting informed decision-making, and ultimately improving overall business performance.

Skills and Experiences

• At least 3 years of experience with development to centered around big data applications, Data Lake and adhoc transformation of unstructured and structure raw data
• Knowledge of database structures, theories, principles and practices (both SQL and NoSQL).
• Active development of ETL processes using Spark or other highly parallel technologies, and implementing ETL/data pipelines
• Experience with Data technologies and Big Data tools, like Spark, Kafka, Hive, Hadoop
• Understanding of Map Reduce and other Data Query and Processing and aggregation models
• Understanding of challenges of transforming data across distributed clustered environment
• Experience with techniques for consuming, holding and aging out continuous data streams
• Experience with Hortonworks technologies and Cloudera technologies
• Knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem components like MapReduce, Spark, HBase and, Ranger and Sentry.
• Security framework experience with Kerberos, LDAP
• Experience with Data Bricks platform is a plus
• Working experience in an Agile methodology / Sprints with daily stand-ups.
• Must Have experience cloudera
• Experience in Talend is a plus.
