Overview of Job
The Commerce Strategy & Planning Director / Associate Director, will serve as the strategic lead for one of
the agency's largest FMCG clients, overseeing a complex portfolio that spans multiple divisions and storefronts
across various platforms. Acting as the orchestrator of cross-functional excellence spanning from planning to
activation, this role is responsible for setting a cohesive commerce vision, driving innovation, and ensuring
strategic alignment to meet and exceed client KPIs. Managing Commerce campaigns across marketplaces like
Lazada, Shopee, TikTok, and local online retail channels like Lotus, Tops, Makro, BigC, 711 etc.
This role requires a deep understanding of commerce ecosystems - including retail media networks, platform
capabilities, and evolving consumer journeys.
The ideal candidate brings both strategic rigor and a holistic mindset, enabling the team to connect the dots
between data, platforms, content, and shopper behaviors.

What You'll Do:
- Be the Commerce Expert: Serve as the strategic lead and trusted advisor for all things Commerce,
providing client with forward-thinking guidance, actionable insights, and data-driven recommendations
across platforms.
- Drive Commerce Growth: Design, implement, and continuously optimize full-funnel commerce
strategies and media plans that drive GMV, improve ROI, and meet or exceed client performance KPIs.
- Lead and Inspire a High-Performing Team: Manage, mentor, and elevate a cross-functional commerce
team, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and innovation.
- Own Strategy Development: Take full ownership of client strategies across platforms (e.g., Shopee,
Lazada, TikTok, other retail ecosystems), ensuring a cohesive, data-led approach that aligns with client
objectives and unlocks growth opportunities.
- Integrate Commerce & Brand: Champion the integration of commerce and brand strategies into a
unified media vision, developing end-to-end plans that deliver both brand equity and business results.
- Build Strong Industry Partnerships: Cultivate strategic relationships with key marketplaces and retail
media networks to ensure clients stay ahead of platform trends, innovations, and beta opportunities.
- Collaborate Across Disciplines: Partner with internal teams (search, social, affiliates, programmatic,
creative, data, etc.) and the broader network to deliver seamless, integrated solutions tailored to client
business challenges.
- Lead with Innovation & POVs: Stay at the forefront of emerging trends and best practices in retail
media, commerce tech, and platform capabilities—developing POVs that influence both internal teams
and client decisions.
- Simplify Complexity: Translate complex platform capabilities, data, and business needs into clear,
actionable strategies that drive clarity and direction for clients.
- Ensure Excellence in Execution: Monitor campaign performance and pacing against targets and
establish a proactive escalation plan when performance deviates—ensuring timely corrective action and
transparent communication.
Minimum requirements: Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, advertising, or a related field
• Minimum of 3–6 years of experience in commerce, including exposure to paid media, retail strategy,
digital trade, consulting, analytics, or eCommerce operations
• Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and managing direct reports in a high-performance
environment
Strategic & Technical Expertise
• Strong strategic thinking with a holistic understanding of the commerce ecosystem, including media
planning, platform capabilities, retail media networks, and the shopper journey
• Deep knowledge of commercial retail levers (e.g., profit margin, stock availability, demand planning,
trade calendar) and how they inform media strategy
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute integrated commerce plans that drive measurable
business outcomes
Platform & Tools Proficiency
• Retail Media Buying & Optimization: proven experience in planning, executing, and optimizing retail
media buys across platforms including Criteo, Google, Meta, and on-site media within marketplaces and
retailer-owned networks – and familiarity with retail bid management platform
• Commerce Ecosystem & Shopper Understanding: strong understanding of the commerce landscape and
shopper behavior across platforms like Lazada, Shopee, TikTok Shop, Makro, and Lotus's, with the ability
to translate platform mechanics into strategic actions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - especially Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, and Outlook - with strong
presentation-building and data analysis capabilities
Communication & Collaboration
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills; able to translate complex concepts into compelling
narratives for both internal teams and clients.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work seamlessly across media, creative, tech, and client service
teams, as well as external retail partners.
• Comfortable engaging with senior clients and stakeholders, with a client-centric approach to relationship
building.
