POSITION PURPOSE:
The Lactide Plant Technologist is responsible for lead in monitoring parameter and quality result as well as provide & guide technical solutions to operations for optimizing capability and efficiency of Lactide Plant, lead in process safety review and risk assessment and qualification process of raw material and trial run for Lactide Plant.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Monitor production and related control parameters to ensure the Lactide Plant is safe and reliable as well as the productions quality meet required standards.
- Provide effective troubleshooting / solutions to resolve problems in Lactide process.
- Lead in qualification process of raw material and trial run for Lactide process.
- Analyze / Optimize parameter and performance trend to provide preventive solutions to the production.
- Coach and provide guidance to team in technical process to ensure team have adequate technique and solution to undertake and complete assignment in effectively manner.
- Coordinates safe and efficient plant shutdowns and start-ups for maintenance turnarounds.
- Proactively uses knowledge and experience to identify problems, develop relevant facts, formulate alternative solutions, decide on appropriate conclusions, and implement corrective actions.
- Uses ingenuity and applies knowledge to recommend changes which could result in improved productivity, safety, and environmental performance.
- Serves as short term backup to the Maintenance Coordinator as needed.
- Provide training of Lactide process for internal employees.

- Provides leadership in promoting environmental, safety and health initiatives through positive reinforcement of safe behavior.
- Operates safely within NatureWorks policies, work instructions, procedures and governmental regulations and fully participates in and champions NatureWorks Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Programs.
- Ensures the EH&S Programs are being followed, developed, and provides a safe working environment to our employees and customers.
- Accountable for building a strong safety culture and actively pursues it daily; identifies unsafe behaviors, audits, conditions and intervenes to mitigate incidents.
- Champions the near miss and reporting processes.
- Actively participles in presenting monthly safety topics as directed.
- Understands and applies environmental, health and safety regulations and policies.
- Participates in daily shift exchange (review safety and plant status).
- Provides feedback to technician group on plant operations best practices.
- Conduct and support emergency response activities as required.
- To be good role model demonstrate to others, a high regard for the Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S).

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Required:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering or science with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or minimum. Diploma certificate related field with a minimum of 5 years equivalent chemical manufacturing plant experience.
- Skill of reading Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagram (PFDs)
- Computer skills must be proficient using MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Experience in a multinational company is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Safety and Quality System e.g., EHS, ISO9001, ISO45001, etc. is an advantage.
- SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are an advantage.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Experience in a petrochemical or chemical manufacturing plant.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Experience in developing procedures and training.
- Passed Confined Space Entry Training course and certificate.
Other (knowledge, skills, and abilities):
- Working knowledge of Basic knowledge of quality control procedures, processing equipment and plant utilities, or equivalent experience at a petrochemical plant or chemical plant.
- Maintenance scheduling processes and tools.
- Root Cause Analysis.
- Operating Discipline.
- Preventive Maintenance process and spare parts identification process.
- Risk assessment principles.
- Permitting to work process.
- Plant P&ID.
- Safety Officer Supervisor level certificate.
- Supports NatureWorks vision and values through project / teamwork.
- Strong customer focus and service orientation with the ability to interact effectively with employees and vendors at all levels in a cross-cultural setting.
- Understands the plans for meeting the business strategy and objectives, and how it relates to daily activities.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- The primary environment is combination of office, control room and plant environment.
- Willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment that can be hot, dirty, encompassing all levels.
- Ability to work in a potentially physically strenuous environment.
- Must have the ability to work in a plant environment.
- This position requires operation of heavy equipment such as extruders, heat exchanges, pumps, etc.
- Ability to operate the plant from a computer-based system in a control room environment, directing the outside operator in certain duties.
- Requires use of office equipment such as computers, telephones, and copiers.
- Required sitting and computer-related activities for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting repeatedly follow by the Thai regulation with proper ergonomic posture, will follow Company safety and ergonomic guideless to avoid injury.
