Job Description: Automation Engineer (Plastic Injection / Molding)

Job Purpose

Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems for plastic injection molding processes. Ensure machine efficiency, minimize downtime, and improve overall production quality through automation solutions.

Responsibilities:

  Automation System Development & Maintenance

·       Design, install, and troubleshoot automation systems, robots, and peripheral equipment for plastic injection molding machines.

·       Program and modify PLCs, robotic arms, conveyors, and sensors to support production needs.

·       Optimize automation systems to reduce cycle time and improve efficiency.

  Process & Equipment Improvement

·       Analyze production processes and propose automation solutions to enhance productivity and reduce labor costs.

·       Collaborate with the molding team to integrate automation into existing production lines.

·       Ensure automation systems comply with safety and quality standards.

  Troubleshooting & Technical Support

·       Provide technical support for molding machine automation and robotics.

·       Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime.

·       Conduct preventive maintenance for automation systems and equipment.

  Project Implementation

·       Lead or support automation projects from planning to execution.

·       Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams for system installation and upgrades.

  Training & Documentation

·       Train production and maintenance staff on the operation of automation systems.

·       Prepare technical documentation, manuals, and reports for automation equipment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical / Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

2–5 years of experience in automation engineering, preferably in plastic injection molding / manufacturing industry.

Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, etc.), robotic arms (Yushin, ABB, Fanuc, or similar), and vision systems.

Strong knowledge of injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment.

Good problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

Able to communicate in English and/or Chinese will be an advantage.
