ABOUT THE ROLE
Head of Year at St Andrews High School
The Head of Year is responsible for a holistic overview of the students in their Year Group, working closely with the Assistant Head of Student Welfare and Progress (SWAP), the Tutors and the students in the Year Group.
At St Andrews International School Bangkok, we believe knowing each child is at the heart of effective education. Our classrooms are warm, engaging spaces where students feel supported to explore, learn, and grow. Our teachers bring this vision to life through creativity, dedication, and commitment to each child's unique journey.
At St. Andrews, we believe in fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive environment where students and staff thrive. As a Head of Year, you will lead with professionalism, respect, and a commitment to nurturing positive relationships throughout the school.
You will be a visible presence, engaging with students during breaks, lunchtimes, and lessons while fostering a strong Year Group identity. Your leadership will promote positive learning attitudes, exemplary behaviour, and a sense of belonging.
Working with Tutors, the SEN/ED department, and School Counsellors, you will monitor student progress, attendance, and wellbeing, providing timely interventions and building strong partnerships with parents. You'll oversee Registration and Wellbeing sessions, guide reflections on grade reports, and facilitate Parent/Student/Teacher meetings.
You will enhance the Year Group's Wellbeing programme, plan engaging assemblies, and deliver memorable events and residential trips. As a leader, you will empower the Year's Tutor team through collaboration and regular meetings while ensuring the delivery of school policies.
With safeguarding at the heart of your role, you will work with the school's safeguarding lead to prioritise student welfare. If you are an organised and compassionate professional ready to make a lasting impact, we look forward to welcoming you to our community.
At St Andrews, we believe that the main quality of a great Head of Year is having excellent relationships with both the students in a Year Group and their parents. This means that we prioritise Heads of Year moving through the High School with their Year Group. Heads of Year must therefore be comfortable working with students across the full age range of the High School.
For us to be able to offer you this role we must also have a position available in your main teaching subject.
Collaborating as a Professional Team Member:
Being part of our team means embracing shared goals and contributing positively to our school community. You'll implement assessment and reporting protocols with integrity and accuracy, supervise students during designated times, and support curriculum development through regular meetings and professional development sessions. Working closely with fellow teachers, you'll ensure a consistent, high-quality learning environment across classes and year groups.
Professional Development
We prioritise professional growth, offering access to Nord Anglia University's CPD platform and encouraging collaboration through Professional Learning Communities, Triads, and WalkThrus. With leadership and Masters programme opportunities, we support our teachers in their journey to become lifelong learners.
Building a Welcoming School Community:
Our school is a dynamic environment that encourages curiosity and engagement. As an educator, you'll make classrooms and shared spaces inviting and stimulating, helping children feel excited to learn and participate. You'll engage weekly in extracurricular activities, represent the school in the local and international community, and champion our House system by supporting House events.
