The Data Center Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of mechanical systems within data center facilities. This role ensures that all mechanical systems, including HVAC, cooling, and plumbing, operate efficiently and effectively to support the critical infrastructure of the data center. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in mechanical engineering, with a focus on data center operations and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimise HVAC systems, including CRAC/CRAH units, chiller plants, cooling towers, and humidity control.
  • Knowledge of gas‑based fire suppression systems such as FM‑200 and Novec 1230, along with their integration into mechanical infrastructure.
  • Oversee Building Management Systems (BMS) for monitoring mechanical equipment, alarms, and fault conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with energy efficiency standards, including PUE optimization, ASHRAE guidelines, and sustainability frameworks such as TREES.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within data centres or other critical infrastructure environments.
  • Possess a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a Professional Engineer (PE) license will be an advantage.
  • Additional certifications such as LEED or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) are preferred.
  • Strong design software proficiency (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools), deep knowledge of industry standards industry standards and codes (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA) related to mechanical systems in data centers.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
