Job Brief
About the Role
The Program Officer - GEDSI and VR works collaboratively with the Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Victim Rights Director, Leadership Team and country teams to support ASEAN and ASEAN Member states to realise the rights of victims of trafficking and pursue gender-sensitive and inclusive counter-trafficking initiatives.
GEDSI and victim rights are cross-cutting themes and contribute to the achievement of all of ASEAN-ACT’s EOPOs and intermediate outcomes. The position works to support ASEAN and ASEAN Member States to integrate gender-sensitive, child-friendly, trauma-informed, and inclusive approaches to preventing and responding to trafficking in persons.
The role is best suited to a proactive and well-organised team player who has strong experience in project coordination and is interested in a dynamic regional program.
About the program
ASEAN-Australia Counter Trafficking (ASEAN-ACT) continues Australia’s long-running collaboration with ASEAN and its Member States to end human trafficking in the region. The program is a 10-year investment principally working to strengthen the justice sector response to trafficking in persons while advancing the rights of victims. The program has established new partnerships with allied government agencies, civil society, and businesses. We engage with all 10 ASEAN Member States in some capacity and have national-level programming in Cambodia, Lao PDR, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. We are establishing programming in Indonesia, and it is currently on hold in Myanmar.
ASEAN-ACT supports ASEAN Member States to integrate gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) and protect the rights of victims of trafficking. The program has developed GEDSI and victim rights strategies to provide a conceptual framework and practical implementation approach to analyse and respond to GEDSI and victim rights challenges in countering trafficking. As a core component of the program, specific projects and activities to advance GEDSI and victim rights have been designed and are being implemented in collaboration with ASEAN-ACT's partners and stakeholders.
Specific Duties
The Program Officer - GEDSI and VR supports the implementation of GEDSI and victim rights activities across ASEAN-ACT's projects and target countries. Specifically, the GEDSI and Victim Rights Program officer will be responsible for:
**Project Management**
- Communicate and liaise with relevant project partners, ASEAN-ACT country teams and consultants to ensure effective and efficient project implementation of related GEDSI and Victim Rights activities across ASEAN-ACT’s activities.
- Assist and coordinate the implementation of GEDSI and Victim Rights related program-supported activities, ensuring they are implemented effectively and efficiently, and that results are appropriately monitored and reported.
- Support drafting of concept notes/terms of reference for workshops, meeting or project sub-activities using ASEAN-ACT’s templates with guidance from the GEDSI and VR Director.
- Support preparation and delivery of workshops and events, including invitations, materials, agendas and venue set-up, note taking and workshop summary reports.
- Conduct and/or support monitoring and reporting of project/activity progress against relevant outputs and outcomes, including drafting six monthly and annual progress reports, updating monthly activity tracking in accordance with the program’s MEL procedures.
**Stakeholder Engagement**
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all stakeholders and related partners based on mutual accountability and respect.
**People and culture**
- Champion victim rights and GEDSI across all project activities and promote culturally sensitive and respectful communications.
- Fostering a culture that promotes learning, sharing of ideas, professional development and analytical thinking.
- Demonstrating and championing compliance with DT Global’s policies and procedures.
Selection Criteria
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. liberal arts, human rights laws, laws, political science, business administration, project management)
**Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills**
- The ability to work with senior officials, demonstrating high-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to build a strong working relationship with key counterparts at both national and regional levels, government and non-government stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, including experience in a cross-cultural environment and international setting.
