NIST is a managed inclusive school. The Occupational Therapist will be an integral member of our Support Services Team who will use their specialist skills and knowledge to contribute to our multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). The role requires an understanding of cultural diversity and a commitment to supporting student success. As a qualified professional, our Occupational Therapist will work in partnership with teachers, families, school leadership and other allied health professionals to contribute to safe, secure and supportive learning environments for all students.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- A bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy (essential)
- Current certification as Occupational Therapist by State or National Board (essential)
- Minimum of five years successful professional experience working in either a diverse and inclusive environment and/or international school (desired)

**Occupational Therapist (OT) Specific Tasks**
- Evaluate student needs by administering assessments for initial referrals and re-evaluations
- Write interpretive reports for parents and/or other service providers
- Prioritize needs and maintain a regular schedule for OT appointments, collect data on progress towards goals, and maintain accurate records
- Develop and monitor the OT programmes based on student needs which may include sensory, motor controls and functional skills
- Collaborate with parents, teachers and the student’s support team on the creation and implementation of individualized education plans (IEP)
- Facilitate and/or contribute to multidisciplinary student support meetings as required
- Provide regular feedback to students, parent/guardians and teachers to support the student in both the school and home environment
- Engage in ongoing professional development to ensure current research-supported Occupational Therapy practices are implemented
- Conduct faculty and parent sessions to promote understanding of occupational therapies
- Contribute to the development of systems and practices that enhance learning and maintain a positive school climate
- Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Director of Support Services
