Mill Hill International Thailand is an exciting new British International School opening in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We are dedicated to providing a creative, inclusive, and forward-thinking learning environment where children are encouraged to explore their passions across a broad curriculum. As part of our founding team, we are looking for a dedicated and experienced Year 5 Teacher who is passionate about upper Key Stage 2 learning, pupil development, and preparing students for their final years of primary education.**Role Overview**:**Key Responsibilities**:
**Teaching and Learning**:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons aligned with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum.
- Differentiate effectively to support all learners, including EAL, SEND, and high-achieving pupils.
- Build a stimulating and well-managed classroom environment that supports curiosity and independence.
- Deepen knowledge and skills in core areas, with a focus on fluency, reasoning, reading comprehension, and written expression.
- Incorporate cross-curricular themes and project-based learning to enrich the curriculum.
- Deploy teaching assistants and support staff effectively to maximise learning outcomes.
**Assessment and Progress**:
- Use a range of formative and summative assessments to track pupil attainment and progress.
- Provide timely, detailed feedback to pupils and communicate effectively with parents and carers.
- Maintain comprehensive records to inform planning, reporting, and transition.
- Contribute to end-of-year reporting and support the smooth progression of pupils into Year 6.
**Pastoral and Behaviour**:
- Promote positive relationships, personal responsibility, and resilience in line with the school’s values.
- Set high expectations for behaviour, effort, and mutual respect.
- Provide consistent pastoral support and liaise with colleagues and families as needed.
- Lead and support class assemblies and pupil presentations throughout the year.
**Wider Contribution**:
- Take part in staff training, meetings, INSET days, and appraisal processes.
- Engage in the school’s extracurricular programme, including clubs, trips, and special events.
- Represent the school at Open Mornings and other community events.
- Plan or assist with educational visits and outdoor learning opportunities.
- Maintain a high standard of classroom display and shared learning spaces.
**Administration and Safety**:
- Ensure accurate daily registration and maintain classroom routines efficiently.
- Plan and risk assess off-site visits in line with school policies.
- Uphold all safeguarding, health and safety, and school procedures.
- Manage classroom resources and budget allocations responsibly
**Person Specification**:
**Essential Qualifications and Experience**:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally in Year 5.
- Strong understanding of cognitive and emotional development in upper primary pupils.
- Proven skills in classroom management and differentiated instruction.
- Commitment to inquiry-led and purposeful learning experiences.
- Competent in using technology to support teaching and learning.
- British nationality and the holder of a United Kingdom passport.
**Desirable**:
- Experience in British or international school settings.
- Understanding of the needs of bilingual and multilingual learners.
- Interest in outdoor education, STEAM, or project-based learning.
- Basic Thai language skills or openness to engaging with local culture.
