Job Summary
A school nurse assistant responds to children in need of immediate health care while on school premises. He/she supports healthy living by addressing health-related issues of the school population: students, teachers and other school staff. School nurses have a responsibility to inform parents of their roles at home in keeping their children safe and healthy, contact parents during emergencies or treat minor injuries.

**Responsibilities**:
∎ Standby at the first aid room to keep open communication between the nurse and school population.
∎ Provide first aid and healthcare to the school population when needed according to the school policy and procedure.
∎ Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases.
∎ Provides direct health education, and health counselling to assist students and staff in making decisions on health and lifestyles that affect health.
∎ Support school nurses to communicate with the Parent Relations and Catering Manager to promote effective hygiene procedures in the canteen and in classrooms.
∎ Check and set up first aid kits for the various areas of the school with clear instruction information and ready to use.
∎ Assist to notify supervisor confidentiality of health conditions that may affect a student’s performance or well-being.
∎ Support the health & safety policy.
∎ Keep records and provide a critical and confidential list of allergy lists and students’ information such as diabetes, epilepsy etc.
∎ Be responsible for maintaining and keep updating health records
∎ Assisting with the development of a health and safety policy and overseeing its implementation.
