**Responsibilities**:

Head of Prep Music is responsible:

- For planning, implementation and review of Schemes of Work relating to the Prep Music curriculum under the leadership and management of the Junior Leadership Team;
- For Supporting staff (specialist and non-specialist) in the provision of Music within the Prep Music curriculum;
- For leading musical performances in formal Prep School events (e.g. assemblies, concerts and recitals), liaising and coordinating with Vice Principal (Junior), Director of Music, Heads of Year and members of SMT as necessary;
- For supporting Year Group Shows at the discretion of the Vice Principal (Junior) and in concert with the Year Team Leader;
- For leading/organising Prep School choirs / ensembles in rehearsal and performance, developing individual and cultural context of the music being rehearsed and performed;
- A full commitment to whole school performance music is expected under the leadership of the Director of Music;
- For promoting and developing membership of the co-curriculum ensembles (i.e. choral and instrumental groups), within the school community;
- For close coordination with the Head of You-Time and Director of Music with regards to the planning and execution of You-Time Music;
- For developing and promoting performance opportunities for Prep choral and instrumental groups and individuals;
- For shared delivery of the annual Junior Concert;
- For organising and coordinating music department visits and trips both local collaborations and international festivals such as FOBISIA events;
- To work with the Head of Pre-Prep music and Senior School music colleagues to ensure vertical articulation of music curriculum from KS1 and into KS3;
- To optimise the marketing of Prep Music in coordination with the Marketing team;
- To produce and monitor the annual Prep music budget;
- To liaise with the music department at City Campus and collaborate where appropriate.

**Tasks**:

The Head of Prep Music will;
- Will teach curriculum Music lessons across the Prep School;
- Represent the views of the Music department at fortnightly Junior School specialist meetings and other meetings as required;
- lead and organise regular Prep music assemblies ;
- To review Prep music reports;
- Support cover across the school as required.
The Head of Prep Music will;
- Be an accomplished musician in his or her own right, and will possess impressive vocal and/or instrumental skills;
- Be passionate about the development of young people and fostering a love of music in all members of the school community;
- Be able to nurture and stretch the most able whilst also making music accessible and enjoyable for all;
- Be an exemplar teacher in respect of planning, preparation of the learning environment, lesson delivery (including EAL strategies and differentiation, assessment, marking and reporting;
- Have excellent communication skills with all constituencies within the school;
- Enjoy working as part of a large, talented and constituencies team of musicians and teachers;

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Teaching in the UK and/or with the English National Curriculum will be an advantage;
- Experience working in large schools;
- Experience of working in large teams.
