Varee Chiangmai International School is a fully accredited member of EDT (Education Development Trust) and delivers CIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education) following a British curriculum across the key stages for Lower Cambridge Curriculum leading to IGCSE and A level. We take a holistic approach to a child’s education and development, with the arts, sports, creative clubs and the Duke of Edinburgh award programme all contributing to the extra-curricular activities. The school currently has 520 students across all phases.

**The Pastoral and Academic Teams are expanding to ensure they are able to fully support their students across all phases. They work together to support the well-being of the students through counselling, as well as providing effective careers advisory provision.**

The school is located close to the centre of Chiang Mai, the bustling capital of Thailand’s northern Lanna region: an area of misty mountains, Buddhist temples and diverse Hill Tribe cultures, as well as a thriving social scene. **Role and Responsibilities of the Primary School Counselor**:
The primary school counselor plays a crucial role in supporting students' emotional, social, and behavioral development. The counselor will work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents to foster a supportive learning environment and promote student well-being.

Core Responsibilities
- ** Student Support**:

- Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions tailored to students' needs.
- Implement evidence-based interventions for social-emotional development.
- Support students in managing anxiety, stress, and peer relationships.
- Assist students facing family disruptions, trauma, or behavioral challenges.
- ** Teacher Collaboration**:

- Work closely with teachers to identify and support at-risk students.
- Offer strategies for classroom management and social-emotional learning (SEL) integration.
- Conduct training sessions for teachers on recognizing signs of mental health concerns.
- ** Parental Engagement**:

- Provide guidance and resources to parents on child development and emotional support.
- Conduct workshops for parents on topics such as positive parenting, behavioral management, and emotional intelligence.
- Act as a liaison between home and school to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.
- ** School-Wide Initiatives**:

- Develop and implement SEL programs to enhance students' social skills and resilience.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and peer mediation initiatives.
- Provide crisis intervention support for students experiencing acute distress.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- A Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field with specialized training in child development.(Desirable)
- Experience in a school setting working with young children.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, teachers, and parents.
- Knowledge of SEL frameworks, behavioral interventions, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and ASD.
- Ability to provide trauma-informed support and crisis intervention.
