Being a great English teacher here at SPIP is more than just having a degree in English or teaching certification. It requires a combination of skills, knowledge, and qualities that contribute to creating an engaging and effective learning environment that inspires and motivates our students.
Our great English teachers have a strong command of the English language, including grammar, vocabulary, literature, and writing techniques. Furthermore, their teaching expertise possesses a passion for teaching and a genuine interest in the growth and development of our students.
To effectively convey their knowledge, our English department has excellent communication skills, thus communicating clearly and effectively to engage our student's ideas in a way that is easy to understand.
Our English department is flexible and adaptable to the needs of second-language and first-language learners and is able to adjust its teaching style to different learning styles, abilities, and age groups. This level of creativity and resourcefulness develops new and innovative approaches to teaching that keep students interested and motivated.
Patience and empathy are also crucial qualities of our English teachers; they understand that students learn at different paces and are willing to provide the support and guidance needed to help students reach their potential.
Overall, being a great English teacher here at SPIP requires a combination of knowledge, skills, and qualities that work together to create an environment that inspires and motivates our students to reach their full potential.
**Responsibilities**:
- Planning and delivering engaging and effective English lessons to secondary school students
- Creating and implementing lesson plans in accordance with the school's curriculum
- Preparing and marking assignments, tests, and exams
- Providing timely feedback and support to students to help them improve their skills and achieve their learning objectives
- Collaborating with other teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment
- Participating in extracurricular activities such as school events, trips, and clubs
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in English or a related field
- Teaching certification and/or a relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, etc.)
- Experience teaching English at the secondary school level in a British curriculum school
- Strong command of the English language
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with EAL learners is an advantage
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Interviews will be over Google Meet or in person (if residing in Bangkok).
