**Primary School Year Leader**
**Purpose of the post**: To help with the daily running and organisation of the year group in accordance with the Head of Phase’s vision and goals. This is in addition to general class teacher responsibilities, which can be found here.
**Remuneration**: As a position of responsibility, Year Leaders receive an allowance (22,000 Baht per month) in addition to their teacher's salary, which is based on years of experience.
Reports to Head of Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 or Head of Key Stage 2
**Responsibilities**:
**Planning**
- To lead weekly year group planning meetings and to ensure that teachers in each year group, including EAL and Learning Support teachers, plan together as a team.
- To ensure that planning and resources meet the needs of all students in the year group and that there is appropriate continuity and progression both between year groups and within the year group. To be responsible for ensuring that planning is placed in the appropriate folder on the server in compliance with deadlines set by the Head of Phase.**Curriculum Development**Pupil Tracking and Progress**
- To liaise with the Head of Phase to run termly pupil progress meetings in conjunction with the Head of Phase.
- To work with their team to identify students who may have previously unidentified learning needs and to liaise with the Learning Support and EAL staff and Head of Phase regarding appropriate provision in line with the EAL and Learning Support policies. To deliver to the Head of Phase termly assessment data for input into the assessment database.**Communication with Parents**
- To oversee the production of the Curriculum Letter each half term and ensure that it is received in good time by parents.
- To be responsible for managing the Homework Database for their year group and to ensure that it is being used appropriately by staff and parents. To ensure that parents are aware of their role as Year Leader.**Pastoral Care of Students**
Class teachers are the first point of contact for parents. However, if issues arise and parents feel they would like contact with a more senior staff member, the Year leader will be the next point of contact
- To make themselves available at short notice to meet with parents who may have concerns about students in their year group. To meet parents and listen to their concerns.
- To be able to identify which issues can be dealt with by the Year Leader and which need the involvement of the Head of Phase.
- To liaise with class teachers and where necessary Heads of Phase over pastoral issues. To lead Meet the Teacher evenings and transition meetings at the start and end of each year.**Behaviour Management of Students**
Class teachers should deal with the vast majority of behaviour management issues in line with school policies and procedures. Year Leaders should offer support to class teachers in relation to behaviour management and liaise with the Head of Phase where they feel additional support or involvement of parents is required.
**Induction of New Staff**
- To ensure that new teaching staff are provided with the appropriate classroom resources they need at the start of the year.
- To ensure new staff are aware of important calendar dates, school events, and staff meetings.
