- 6 months- SEI Asia, based in Bangkok, has a diverse team of multinational experts who integrate scientific research with participatory approaches to co-develop and share knowledge, build partnerships and influence policy for resilient development. SEI Asia’s work focuses on gender and social equity, climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, water insecurity and integrated water resources management, transitional agriculture, renewable energy and urbanization.SEI Asia is an affiliate of Chulalongkorn University (CU), Thailand. Together, SEI and CU maintain a long-term agreement to foster innovative scientific research alongside effective policy engagement on development and environmental challenges in Asia.

**About the Programme**:
Environmental change and stresses will be felt by all, but they will not affect all people equally. Social and gender inequalities shape people’s vulnerabilities to environmental shocks and stresses, weakening their capacities to realize their well-being and security. Social inequality is characterized by multiple and intersecting social identities of gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, age, ability and class that translate into privilege for some, but disadvantage and marginalization for others. These are shaped by political, economic and cultural dynamics of power and affect the capacities of people to achieve sustainable development and well-being.

In this context, the SEI Asia Cluster on Gender, Environment and Development (GED) works towards achieving transformative and socially inclusive sustainable development through rigorous research that informs key environment and development policy agendas. Our team applies an intersectional lens on gender equality, social equity, and poverty and uses participatory methodologies that strive towards social and environmental justice.

We are seeking an independent, creative, and highly motivated individual to join our team and support several ongoing projects within the GED cluster, particularly the Innovating for equity in nature-based climate solutions in aquaculture food systems in Asia-Pacific (I4E) initiative under the AQUADAPT Programme. I4E aims to promote inclusive and resilient aquacultural nature-based climate solutions (NbCS) in the Asia-Pacific region. The Initiative enhances the range of stakeholder perspectives informing AQUADAPT and strengthens AQUADAPT project teams’ knowledge and capacities to conduct relevant, impactful and gender

**Key duties and responsibilities**:
As an intern with the AQUADAPT Innovating for Equity (I4E) Initiative, you will have the opportunity to contribute towards research and practice on advancing gender equality and social inclusion in aquaculture. Working across the two Initiative components, you may contribute to:

- Conducting a systematic literature review that explores nature-based climate solutions (NbCS) in aquaculture through a transdisciplinary approach, focusing on key issues, trends, emerging issues, challenges and opportunities, and knowledge gaps and further research areas
- Performing a capacity needs assessment of AQUADAPT project teams’ motivation, knowledge, and skill levels regarding gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), and developing a capacity needs assessment report.
- Developing project gender action plans for AQUADAPT project teams.
- Designing and implementing customized training on GESI for project teams, tailored to the projects’ needs.
- Co-designing the GESI AQUADAPT strategy.

Additionally, you may contribute to other projects under the GED Cluster as required.

**Who you are**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual passionate about research and policy engagement in the fields of gender and social equality at the nexus of environment, development and sustainability.

**Formal qualifications and knowledge**:

- Knowledge of qualitative research methodologies
- Understanding of gender, environment and development linkages
- Fluent in English with excellent writing and presentation skills

**Desirable**:

- Familiarity with critical social science frameworks (e.g., political ecology, feminist political ecology).
- Experience in conducting literature reviews, evidence synthesis and stakeholder mappings
- Experience contributing to the development of gender action plans, gender strategies and capacity development activities
- Prior employment or internship experience in a relevant professional setting
