Thailand Bloomsbury International School Hatyai Full time

Job starts: August 14th 2023

Location: Hatyai, Thailand.

Contract Type: Full Time

Contract Term: 2 years, with a further 2-year contract extension available thereafter.

Principal: Mr. John Calvert

Located in the city of Hatyai in southern Thailand, Bloomsbury International School Hatyai is a co-educational International Independent School. Bloomsbury was founded in 2016 and offers a British style curriculum to both day and boarding students. The secondary school is small with only around 70 students. But as the Primary has grown so will the Secondary when Primary students continue their journey with us. Secondary pupils follow the Cambridge curriculum with pupils sitting iGCSEs, AS Levels and A Levels. We have a 100% record of all our graduating students going on to a university. We are a caring, kind team committed to every student achieving their very best. Our pupils are the most hard-working, caring and emotionally thoughtful you could wish to meet. They are a dream to work with.

We have received our full accreditation from CIS, one of only 20 schools in Thailand to achieve this high accolade. We like to think we do things properly here and want the next head of Secondary to continue this journey.

The Position

The new Head of Secondary will take on a very important role in the continuing development of the school. The Secondary department has gained a reputation for excellence within the local community, and we wish the new Headteacher to develop that good practice still further. The role will include continuing to develop and grow the school. The position involves organisation, leadership and the ability inspire and motivate within a committed team. It requires someone who is able to build an exciting curriculum offer including a vision for our commitment to Global Citizenship and equipping our students to live in an ever-changing world. We have embedded digital citizenship throughout the curriculum so someone who is digitally literate is a must. It requires a skilled and experienced Secondary leader who can recognise and support truly great teaching and learning. Someone who is always interested in making good, even better. It will also involve a whole school commitment, to be discussed at interview in line with the applicant's skills and preferences.

As a small school, all our leaders need to be an integral part of the team, professionally and often socially. Our teachers and support staff are incredibly hardworking, dedicated and kind; they want a new Secondary leader who is just like them. The Headteacher role is also front facing, so an ability to build relationships, work well and communicate with our community, of mainly Thai speaking parents, is also important.

**Location**

Hatyai is an up and coming city without the high cost of living found in other more frequented destinations in Thailand. Hatyai does not have the thriving nightlife scene of Bangkok but there are bars, music venues and restaurants serving a range of Western, Asian and local food. However, there are not the throngs of western tourists, there are only around 500 expats in Songkhla province. As a professional in Thailand you are respected by the whole community and you can fully expect this in Hatyai which has a very 'Thai' feel with a local population who are welcoming, friendly and helpful with the famous 'Thai Smile'.
