Background

For Unilever to remain competitive in the future, the business needs to continue its path to become data intelligent. The Data & Analytics team is responsible for building data, data science and analytics as a core capability to help the business become data intelligent and drive business and organization performance. The team will deliver advanced products at scale and work closely with the market teams to ensure that decisions in Unilever are augmented with insight & recommendations wherever possible.

There are five major themes to the Data & Analytics strategy:- Winning disproportionately in Markets. We believe that the best way to move the needle for Unilever in Analytics is to work with leading geographies to create analytics products that make a significant impact on our business- Drive Unilever to assisted and predictive decision-making. The future is about assisted decision-making with machines (AI/Cognitive Computing/Machine Learning) unlocking the insights from vast deluge of consumer, customer & internal data, and presenting this in a way that is simple for our teams.- Make data a true asset. Better data and data science access for every part of Unilever, across the 3 data framework (Connectivity, Growth, Continuous Improvement) and leading through the Enterprise Data Executive.- World-class Information: One Version of the Facts. Continued excellence in delivery of diagnostics and insights to focus attention when and where it matters with a focus on Big Bets, Strategic Initiatives and Leadership team reporting

This role is part of the
_UniOps D&A In-Market team in Thailand_ tasked with delivering maximum value from data to drive business and organization performance within each respective market.

Expected Work

The Data Scientist is an exciting role within Thailand D&A team. This role will be involved in the development and deployment of state of art machine learning algorithms and world class data science capability to add business needs and opportunities.

The Data Scientist’s responsibilities include understanding the business problem, solutioning and experimenting with different modelling architectures to create the best possible setup from model performance as well as computational performance. To do this job successfully, you need exceptional skills in Machine Learning and Programming. Your goal will be to find the best data-based solution for the problem.

While there is a need for a strong technical background, the data scientist is also expected to engage with different types of stakeholders and participate in both technical sessions and business oriented discussions. It is important for the data scientist to be able to explain data science concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders and present insights and results from the outcome of the analytics solution.

Key accountabilities:

- Interact with relevant teams to identify business challenges where data science can help
- Create detailed data science proposals and project plans, flagging any limitations of proposed solution
- Design and prototype experimental solutions, particularly machine learning models
- Design scaled solutions and ensure high quality and timely delivery
- Facilitate industrialization and ongoing operation of solutions through well organised code, clear documentation and collaboration with relevant teams
- Govern the work of 3rd party vendors where needed to support delivery, while maximising creation of Unilever IP
- Represent Data Science in cross-functional governance of projects, engaging with stakeholders up to Director level
- Highlight recent developments in data science capability which could solve additional challenges, and recommend strategic areas of new capability to develop
- Provide ad-hoc & immediate support to the business when needed
