**Key Responsibilities**:
The Part-Time School Nurse reports directly to The Lead School Nurse. Through effective planning and best practice the Part-Time School nurse is expected to assist the Lead School Nurse with the direction and effective operation of the Medical Centre. In particular, the Part-Time School Nurse will:

- Be responsible for the proper performance, attention and prioritisation of staff resources of the Medical Centre ensuring:

- First aid treatment administered is given professionally and appropriately at all times
- Excellent communication and coordination between members of the Medical Centre team
- Clear, concise and up to date electronic student medical records available as appropriate in the relevant school systems.
- Maintain a general hospital standard environment regarding treatment and work space including cleanliness and hygiene
- Build effective relationships with staff, students, families as required to support students' individual care and well being
- Operate robust school process and follow through the communication with relevant parties on:

- Consent forms
- Clinical list of students for teachers and teacher assistants, first aid, individual care plans
- Allergy / dietary requirements
- Deputise for the Lead School Nurse as and when required
- Assist with supervising work, delegate duties and schedule shifts for contract nurses
- Inform and liaise with the Director of Business Services, the Human Resources Manager and the local public health authorities for student and staff health concerns or specific contagious diseases cases (including COVID-19) as required
- Assist in producing weekly COVID-19 reports to the Senior Management Team
- Assist with managing effectively the support requirements for day to day operations and events
- Assist with the coordination with the Administrative and Sports functions of the school regarding events for which medical cover outside the normal school day is required and arrange staffing accordingly
- Liaise and communicate with parents regarding medical incidents depending on the level of seriousness
- Arrange for students to be taken to hospital together with accompanying medical centre staff if necessary
- Assist with the control of medicine brought into school for students by parents
- Assist with maintaining basic first aid boxes around the school.
- Assist with the weekly provision of the doctor’s surgery
- Provide timely and accurate information regarding accidents and medical emergencies to the Senior Management Team and other staff accordingly
- Assist with the review and support the medical emergency procedures in place, practising once a term
- Serve as a consultant with other school professionals, such as food service personnel, teachers, coaches
- Investigate and report accidents, with recommendations for remedial action where appropriate
- Carry out ad hoc duties as assigned by the Lead School Nurse, The Director of Business Services or the The Senior Management Team.
