Ciena Transport - Production Capacity Planning & Procurement Lead

Ciena’s Optical Modem NPI Equipment Engineering Team is looking for a Capacity Planning and Procurement Lead to be part of the team responsible for the planning capacity at our Thailand Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS). This will include modems products and high-speed photonic components for NPI, inter-EMS transfers, and repair.

The role of the Capacity & Procurement Lead is to be the first interface to local EMS partners for confirming capacity model on deployed assets (test times, yields, other KPIs). The procurement component will involve working with EMS for locally sourced equipment and working with team in Ottawa for best options.

Key responsibilities:

- Conduct capacity planning activities to ensure efficient utilization of equipment and resources
- Calculate equipment utilization metrics to optimize operational efficiency
- Emphasize sourcing locally to support sustainability and reduce supply chain complexities
- Maintain capacity models using both theoretical and actual data
- Monitor production KPIs and follow up with test and process teams if yields are not meeting targets
- Communicate and work closely with all Supply Chain groups in order to support output requirements
- Make necessary adjustments to short, intermediate and ling term capacity plans based on cyclical reviews
- Participate in the development of integrated budgets aligning transfer and capacity requirements
- Develop and lead projects related to capacity studies and cost savings initiative
- Experience with Agile and Oracle is an asset
- Experience with Ciena test database and default management system an asset
- Create and update Bill of Materials (BOM) using Agile software for test assets
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of spare parts and consumables required for our contract manufacturers in Thailand
- Collaborate with the local CM teams and utilize JIRA to request PO and track items needed for production/test
- Actively engage with stakeholders to push back on items that may hinder production efficiency
- Analytical thinking for translating data into informative reports and visuals

Qualifications and Experience required:

- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Proven experience in capacity planning and equipment utilization within a manufacturing or technology environment
- Strong knowledge of Agile software and BOM creation
- Familiarity with inventory management and procurement processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, global team environment
